Slab Leaks
Some customers have had as many as 4 or 5 slab
leaks. If you were to add
up the
cost of the slab leak repairs, plus the cost of possible flood
damage, they could have repiped their entire home twice! Homeowners
that decide to repipe their home are assuring themselves that they
will never have a slab leak again.
Polybutylene Plumbing
Polybutylene (PB) is a plastic material, or co-polymer. Also known
as Quest plumbing, it was widely used from the mid-1970s to the mid-1990s
across the nation. At the time, it was touted as the "pipe of the future",
but it has not lived up to that title. PB pipes are easily identified
by the gray color and copper rings around the fittings where there
are joints or directional changes in the pipe.
PB failures can
range in severity, but once you find a leak, you can be assured you
will soon have more. The average PB pipe starts to leak after nine
years. The older the pipes, the more likely they are to fail. With
PB, it is not a question of IF the pipes will fail,
but WHEN they will fail.
So, if you find
yourself throwing your hands in the air in frustration over multiple
slab leaks or know that you have PB pipes and would like to eliminate
the fears of leaks, then contact us for a free estimate.
